“Be careful what you wish for, ‘cause you just might get it all.”
These song lyrics, by Chris Daughtry, have always stuck out in my mind. It’s so true that when we ask The Lord for something from pure faith and the desire of your heart, He will deliver in the ways we need best. But it is not always the easy path, let me tell you.
In Guatemala I was going through a really hard time with changes in our scheduling and new atmosphere living with our entire squad. I’ve never enjoyed change but, for some reason, it was more difficult than I had anticipated. I started asking The Lord to help me with my attitude, emotions, and mind frame about unexpected changes because when you’re on the World Race, CHANGE IS A GUARANTEE!
Well guess what? He delivered.
Our first team change was announced and Anthony, one of my teammates I knew best, was swapped with a guy from another team. On top of this, our ministry in El Salvador was announced: Unsung Heroes. This would require us to rely on The Lord to lead where we would go in the month, moving around from place to place, and not knowing what ministries we would meet. I remember trying to take it all in and trying to be ok with it- but I couldn’t. Crying for who-knows-how-long, I didn’t even know why I was so upset. All I knew was this was my prayer for a couple of weeks. God was preparing me for something, and it was going to be big…
Fast forward 2-3 weeks.
The Lord brought back team changes to mind. He asked me, “How would you feel about a team change?”
I thought about it… and said I would be ok with it.
Then He asked, “How would you feel about a completely different team, better yet, an ALL GIRLS team?”
I said, “Umm… excuse me?”
My wonderful Courageous Love team consisted of 4 men and 4 women. Living life with only women would be a big change for me. Also, we were set to be in Bulgaria next which meant dealing with a huge language barrier for the first time in my life. The more I thought and prayed about it, the more I felt this peace in my heart.
Well, team changes came around and (shocker) I’m on an all girls team with only one girl from my original team! For the first time, I was excited for something completely new because this new team was going to be something special. He was preparing me with the smaller challenge in Guatemala to ready me for this mega change. Courageous Love will always have a special place in my heart. Us girls have a special bond and I will always be here for whatever Shannon, Aly and Tara need and I know they will always be there for me too (& I will definitely be attending their weddings ^_^). The men, Jayce, Daniel, Jason and Anthony, are an amazing example of men who love the Lord above all else and have set a standard for the man in my future. I am so thankful for the time I got to spend with Courageous Love.
BUT…
I am so excited to see what The Lord has in store for my new beautiful team of RADIANT ladies here in Europe!
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7
