Month six!

 

Fun facts:

  1. 90% of the land is desert

  2. Official language is French

  3. Home of the world’s saltiest body of water, Lac Assal, yes, with a salt concentration higher than the dead sea. Africa’s lowest point, 509 feet below sea level and can reach up to 135 degrees in the summer.

  4. Djibouti has the only permanent US military base in Africa

  5. Djibouti City, the capital, accounts for more than 76% of the entire countries population

 

If I get to be a tourist I want to…

  1. Dorale and Khor Ambado – BEACHES!! Swimming and watersports

  2. The gulf of Tadjoura – snorkeling with whale sharks

  3. Goda Mountains – rise 5,740 feet above sea level, goda means “twisted” and refers to a ridge

 

Food I want to try:

  1. Fah Fah – traditional dish made with goat meat or camel meat, served with vegetables and chilis

  2. Banana fritters – fried bananas with flour and nutmeg, served with honey

  3. Skudahkaris – rice, lamb and ayurvedic spices (typically includes cinnamon, turmeric, fenugreek, coriander, cardamom, and ginger)
