Welcome to Miami…
Those were the words I heard as I tried to wake up during our descent into Miami International airport. I was waking up from the only 45 minutes of sleep I have had in the past 24 hours. Get this I’m actually still awake! For those that know me well you may not believe that last statement! Today is our first travel day! We are in route to Tirana, Albania where we will meet our very first ministry host and officially start this thing that is the World Race.
This thing called the World Race that was just a dream a short year ago. But now is my LIFE for the next 11 months and I couldn’t be any more excited about this reality. Of course this reality is a bit nerve racking. To be honest I am very scared. I’m worried about will I fail, can I stay healthy and flexible at the same time, where will I live, what will I eat, will this team work, will our squad make an impact? All of these are natural concerns. But friends I have committed to this kingdom building journey because I believe we serve a God who is worth all this and so much more. He knows the answer to these questions and He goes before me and walks through it all with me. It is an honor to be able to do what we are doing. I read in Acts 5:12 this morning about the apostles who suffered terrible persecution and floggings to see the name of Christ spread. This is nothing compared to what happened to them. Sure it may be uncomfortable at times and even times I will feel like I can’t go on, but in those times I will look at their attitude and change mine.
They saw it as an honor to suffer for Christ. They couldn’t believe he would choose them to do this. WOW! Alright I’m done whining now! What an awesome perspective to have and one I choose to adopt everyday on this race.
God has called each one of us to step out and walk in the AUTHORITY and POWER of JESUS! That is what I have been challenged by my leaders to live out and I fully intend to not waste a day. I am choosing to press in on the hard days and be the bold daughter God has called me to be. That is done by simple steps of obedience. Committing to this race was just one of the many steps of obedience that God has called me to. I want to see lives changed for the gospel and my life changed to become more like Christ. I choose to walk in His power!
In a few hours we will be stepping foot outside the familiar and our comfort zone to go to the nations. I can’t believe it’s finally here and I am in this place! I am so grateful to God for his faithfulness and how he has used so many of you to support me through prayer and finances. I go into this year committing to full abandonment of my plans. I am ok with Jesus interrupting my life and those around me. In fact I am asking him to. I am looking forward to what He is going to do in Albania with our teams and in Serbia with the rest of the squad. We have committed to denying ourselves, taking up our cross and following Him wherever He leads.
As a squad and individual we will…
Fearlessly Follow Christ
Honorably Live
Live lives of Wholeness
That is X-Squads vision and I am pumped to see what all this looks like 11 months from now!
Well pretty soon I will hear…
Welcome to Instanbul, Turkey and a few hours later TIRANA, ALBANIA! Fasten your seat belts folks it’s about to be one heck of a ride! See ya later America!
