Trust me…JUMP!
Trust me… JUMP! Those were the words I heard from God as I contemplated doing the bungee jump at Victoria Falls. It’s a 111 meter jump off a bridge overlooking the gorge of the falls. It’s in the top 5 adrenaline rushes on the planet or so they advertise! Now I have never done anything like this and hadn’t even considered it until today. A couple of my teammates were set on jumping. They had planned to do it tandem (tied together) and as we talked more about it my curiosity grew. When am I ever going to be back at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe? It was an opportunity of a lifetime. An opportunity that scared me to death. When it comes to things like this I tend to let fear dictate my actions. I could never do that. It’s too high. And to top it off when we went to buy our tickets we found out you can only do it ALONE. That was a game changer. I can’t jump off a bridge by myself.
But I really wanted to do it. I came on this trip because God called me out of my comfort zone in the first place. I wanted to be challenged and see where God could take me if I gave him my yes. I asked God what he thought and I kept getting the same answer.
Yes my daughter JUMP. TRUST ME!
Trusting the Lord has been a major theme for me on the race. Trusting him is what got me here and what kept me here. It’s currently what is keeping me from going insane trying to figure out my next step. He just keeps whispering
“TRUST ME”
Most of the time it’s very hard to trust him, especially when things are uncertain or out of my control. But I have learned obedience is what he desires and that’s what I want too.
So today I didn’t let fear dictate my decision. I decided I was going to jump and we made our reservation and payed early in the morning. We were the first jumpers of the day.
Now don’t get me wrong. Had I had not jumped I don’t think I would have been directly disobedient to the Lord. But I do feel like I would have missed out on a gift that he wanted me to experience. I can just see him smiling and laughing with me as I twirled and flipped around and around flying through the air. It was truly AMAZING and an experience I will never forget. I have now bungee jumped off the bridge of Victoria Falls, one of the seven wonders of the world. He was right I did love it! TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY!
