“Bold prayer honors God and God honors bold prayer.”

This was the takeaway from one of my devos this week. It got me thinking when was the last time I consistently prayed boldly about something. When was the last time I believed in what God can do in my life? Now don’t get me wrong, I confidently believe in Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I am so grateful for his life, death and resurrection and how he has given me new life. But how often do I really ask for big or bold things? Umm…cricket…silence…cricket. This is sad ya’ll!!! We serve a God who can move mountains by just thinking it! We serve a God who can do the unimaginable and the impossible!! So why in the world am I sitting here praying for little things all the time. Not that God doesn’t care about the little things, because He most certainly does. But is there something more I should be asking of our BIG GOD? The answer is YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some amazing ladies on my squad and I are going through a devotion together called Draw the Circle by Mark Batterson. It’s a 40 day prayer challenge and I am learning SOOO much through it. God is showing me things that I never even thought about to ask for and revealing things about the ways I am choosing to ask!! In one part of the book he says, “It’s only when business as usual goes OUT of business that we’re in business- the Father’s business. That’s when we are on the verge of a spiritual breakthrough!” That’s good stuff!! I don’t know about you but I WANT TO BE APART OF THE FATHER’S BUSINESS! I want to honor God with bold prayers. I don’t want to settle for the common, when I can tap into the power that is already mine and was given to me when I received salvation! Today I am choosing to squash my doubts and fears and put them in their place, right back to pits of hell!
Alright now that I am all fired up I want to share what God laid on my heart this morning. In the first few chapters of this book it shares a story of a man named Honi. Honi was living in a deep season of drought. No one could do anything about it. Honi understood the power of God and decided to draw a circle and plant himself firmly in there until his prayer was answered. He told the people around him that he wasn’t leaving that circle until God blessed them with rain. Not just rain but an abundance of rain. I love how it mentions even when it sprinkled he didn’t stop praying and he stayed planted in that circle! He told them he prayed for an abundance and sure enough moments later there was more rain than they knew what to do with! He boldly prayed!!! His bold prayers honored God!! God honored his bold prayer and provided what they needed. So, I have drawn a circle, literally and figurately, in case you are wondering! ? I am boldly praying to meet my goal of $10,000 before February 12th. Right now, my total is $6,665. I have a little over $3,300 to meet this goal! I have asked God for this and I have committed to doing whatever it takes to get there. This morning I took the time to ask him what steps I need to take to make this happen. One more point before I leave you. Believe me I could write all day about the amazing wisdom I am getting from these books. I highly recommend them! He says, “It’s the impossible prayers that honor God because they reveal our faith and allow God to reveal his glory.” I have been told by more than one person this goal seems crazy and kind of impossible. I don’t believe those lies!!! My circle is drawn and I can’t wait to see how God is going to use this for HIS glory! ?
This prayer takes God working on hearts. YOUR hearts! I have been praying that God would reveal to me what my responsibility is in all this and He has been very faithful in revealing that to me. Some of you are aware as we have had some conversations. But part of my bold prayer is that God would work on your heart, those that have not donated or committed to pray yet. I pray for open hearts. Giving to the race and committing to pray, not only helps me out a lot, every penny is going to be used to spread the gospel to broken and hopeless people around the globe!! I mean really who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?? If your heart still isn’t there yet, that’s ok. I don’t know what season of life you are in or your circumstances. But I pray you would really think about these words and honestly and prayerfully consider how you can be a part of this amazing journey. God has big and bold plans!! Will you be a part of it?
