Day 166… such a beautiful day!
I woke up this morning not really expecting this day to be that special. But isn’t that how it works? God likes to show up and show out on those “ordinary” days We had a normal day of ministry planned.
It started with Jesus waking me up before my alarm a half hour early and had some amazing uninterrupted time with Him. Most of my teammates were out passing out flyers, the remaining ones were sleeping or in the other room, and our hosts were still in their room. If you aren’t on the race you may not know what a treasure moments like these are. I love my team and I love living in close community, but when you can find a quiet, nice temperature, place overlooking the city to spend time with Jesus you cherish these limited moments!
After that we had team time where we worshiped by drawing and writing the names of God. It was great to take them in and reflect. I love the creativity of my teammates and getting to share these times together.
Then it was off to English class! We had a fantastic time talking with the teenage boys that we have developed friendships with Over the last few weeks. Then the day took a turn I didn’t expect.
I knew we would be joining them for an afternoon of gaming at their favorite spot, I didn’t know how much joy this would bring me to see these precious young guys in their element attempting to teach us how it’s done. We turn the corner and enter Bob Games! It’s a dark place lined with computers and 15-20 year old guys intently focused on their game.
I was terrible at the game. They just kept laughing and attempting to give me tips. The young man that was helping me is a beginner at English so that made it even funnier as we tried to communicate about this complex online fantasy world game. He really wanted me to get it!
If you would have told me 5 years ago I’d be in a Myanmar Gaming lounge playing an online game with a group of amazing teenage boys I would have laughed! God has such a sense of humor who he chooses to bring into your life and allow you to love on. If I’ve learned nothing else from this journey I have learned that for sure!
When we left a couple of the boys needed to head to our part of town to go to the doctor. While on the bus I got a chance to talk to the guy going to the doctor and pray for his hand. Another way God showed up in my day!
I thought the day was over as we were off the rest of the night to have some free time. As we walked in the door we were invited by our squad leader to act like an alpaca in her fundraising video. Yes you read that right, an alpaca! Picture this, a group of crazy Americans in a crowded Myanmar park filming a video dressed as an alpaca. It was a moment I won’t soon forget! PS check out her shirts at They are pretty fantastic!

So ends day 166! This was a beautiful day! I am thankful I have a good good father who allows me to have joy filled days like today because he loves me so much! He has given me this journey and these are days and memories I don’t ever want to forget!
