21 days left on the race!
WOW! Where did 11 months go? As my time comes to an end I am reflecting on this amazing adventure, the beautiful people God allowed me to meet, and the things He allowed me to see. It has been a life changing year that I won’t ever forget. I am doing a series of end of the year blogs highlighting memories from each ministry, my teams, and adventure days. I hope you enjoy my little trip down memory lane. God has taken me on a wild ride and I would love to give you a glimpse of what I experienced over the past 11 months. Thank you to my prayer warriors and financial supporters. None of this would have been possible without your beautiful partnership.
Month 1-Albania
This is a coffee shop my team and I found a few days after arriving. We met the owner, Roni (far left) and one of his employees. This memory was special because our team built a relationship with these guys and it was the first time I have ever been given the chance to evangelize to a devout Muslim. I learned a lot from him and pray that the Lord gets a hold of this man’s heart. The Lord taught me to step out in boldness and that I needed more knowledge of other faiths. He also taught me that it is not a failure when you have to move on and the person doesn’t accept Christ. Seeds were planted and the Lord taught me to trust Him in that. He is working long after we leave.
Month 2-Romania
Our all girl’s team got the opportunity to remodel a shop this month! None of us had any real experience in painting, sanding, using power tools, and laying floors. But our wonderful host taught us some useful skills about remodeling and about how to love Jesus better. He and his beautiful wife were very good at both! I loved cutting things with the table saw!
Month 3- Greece
We got the privilege of working with Refugees this month. On this night we got to hang out with a few of them on a boat that houses a group of YWAM members who also work at the camp. We played cards, had praise and worship and heard a great message.
Month 4- Malaysia
This month I got to help teach these precious little ones pictured above. They were full of spunk and my cup was overflowing this month. They worked very hard to learn their songs and dances for the graduation held while I was there.
Month 5- Thailand
Flashback to that one time when ministry was beating each other up! We were actually learning self defense and allowing the trainers to practice training on us. Britt might have been way to good at this! SWAT (Spiritual Warriors Against Trafficking) works with sex trafficked victims and trains rescuers around the globe.
Month 6- Myanmar
So I actually had two memories from this month. One is with our English students and one getting to serve our host in a unique way.
I never thought I would end up in a video gaming lounge, especially in Myanmar. But that’s what happened and it was such a great day! I was absolutely terrible at the game and my teacher didn’t really speak much english. That just made it even funnier! We had such a wonderful time loving on and teaching these guys about Jesus this month.
The Mang family truly became our family. They were going to find out the gender of their baby while we were there so we threw them a gender reveal party! It’s a GIRL! They just had their beautiful little girl a few days ago and she is healthy and happy!
Month 7- Lesotho
These two beautiful little girls belong to a family that attended the church we worked with. We got to go to their village one day and help their mother pull weeds out of her garden. I loved going into our village everyday helping out and sharing Jesus with these incredible people. God moved so much in this country. I saw several salvations, healings, and people rededicate their lives.
Month 8- South Africa
Confession: I picked two memories for this month too! I just couldn’t choose!
Our host set up a radio interview about our experiences on the race. My teammates did a fantastic job sharing their stories.
This is how you do laundry in South Africa, at least at a group home we got the chance to serve in. You put the clothes in the tub and then stomp on them until they are clean. It’s a great workout and very effective!
Month 9- Zimbabwe
I LOVE kid’s ministry and these kids were hilarious! We did lots of vbs and backyard bible clubs this month and it was a blast!
Month 10- Haiti
You may already have read D’s story. But this month I spent a lot of time praying for her physically and spiritually. The Lord restored her joy and healed her heart. She believes the Lord will also heal her blindness. This day the Lord took away her hiccups that she had been suffering from for 3 days and started our month long friendship.
Month 11- Dominican Republic
Just like that it’s Month 11! This month is different. We choose our ministry. We choose our community. We choose everything. It’s a transition month that has started the re-entry process. This month I am choosing to ask the Lord everyday what He has for me and trusting him to provide that answer. This is a picture of our bible study group that meets with our mentor four days a week in the morning. This month I am choosing to be engaged in discipleship and loving this city with my squad mates.
Stay tuned for more blogs highlighting other types of memories from this past year! See you in 21 days!
