Have you ever stopped to think about what your not seeing on a daily basis?
Well I got literally rocked the other day stuck on this amazing reality that just because you can’t see something, doesn’t mean it’s not there..we arrived here at our host house in Nepal at the perfect time to climb on the roof and watch the sunset. We were all amazed at the scenic view that we were blessed to look forward to waking up to everyday this month.
This month we are 4 hours north of Kathmandu into the mountains and through the woods.. We are working with a new ministry through YWAM that has just started up here and they are going to the unreached people of the surrounding villages who have not heard of Jesus and sharing the gospel, starting new fellowships with the community and continuing to return to disciple and hopefully plant churches. We get to be a part of their fellowships and discipleship! How cool is that?! I am stoked to see where this month takes us!
Well after seeing this beautiful sunset we were told by our host that there are actually more mountains behind the clouds.. mountains that are covered in snow and only seen when the clouds clear! I was astonished and reallllllly wanted to see these mysterious mountains. I was shocked that there could possibly be more mountains, where in the world are they and why can’t I see them. I couldn’t stop thinking about them. The next day my teammate Christa and I were stuck on the topic. Every couple hours we would look at one another in awe that there could possibly be more.
It got me thinking… what else am I missing out on? Are there things in this world that are right there in front of me that my eyes just can’t see? (Dispite my already terrible eye sight) Let’s think about the stars! Even though you can’t see them, they’re still there! Day or night they haven’t gone anywhere, just because YOU can’t see them doesn’t mean they don’t exist. That goes for these mountains as well… Just because my eyes can’t perceive all that I am looking at, doesn’t mean they’re not hiding! Taking it a little deeper, while sitting across the table from a friend or passing by a stranger on the street, they could be having a hard day, had their heart broken, grieving the loss of a loved one or just experiencing some really bad luck and you could have no idea. How many times have I seen people who were suffering but had no idea what they were going through?! Just because I don’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there.
I think we’ve all heard debates on Faith and Believing in God. If you can’t see Him, is he really there? How can you believe in something you have never seen before? Well, just because you can’t see Him doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist. Just like the stars and the snow capped mountains, they are there all the time, day or night, clouds or clear skies but the distance and interference between us and them keep them hidden.
Literally hidden in plain sight!
We have to view it from a different perspective. If I take off my glasses, everything far away becomes blurry and I won’t see what others see. But the moment I put them back on, suddenly everything is clear! If you look through a telescope, you will see all the magical stars in the sky, but you needed the lens to bring it into focus. The same goes with faith. You can’t rely on what your eyes can see on their own, you need to refocus your attention to the unseen! Your glasses in this situation is your faith! Stay connected in the Word, strive to live like Jesus and believe in all that God has in store for you. The bible is a great study guide, but it doesnt have all the answers..otherwise there would be no need for God or your faith in the first place. And that’s where your belief comes into play! You need to believe and then live out that belief. In order to see God in the light that he intends for us, we need to always put on our glasses!
One day I was starting to think that my host was joking when he said we could see the snow capped mountains from his village. I started to doubt we could ever see them behind the already humongous mountains that surrounded us. As Christa and i talked about our doubts i was reminded of the book Through the Eyes of a Lion, and how Levi reminds us that just because we can’t see it doesnt mean it doesnt exist. We were content knowing that they were there and that we probably wouldn’t be able to see them due to it being rainy season here un Nepal right now. But that same day while walking through town, the clouds parted and I was blessed to be able to see the beautiful and breath taking snow capped mountains that engulfed the open space above the already existing mountain tops.
How great is our God!? I will forever remind myself to change out my glasses every now and then to look at life and faith through a different lens, a different perspective to be able to see the unseen things, spiritual and eternal.

Thank you Levi for opening my eyes to the world!
