Rooftops. There is something about standing on a roof that makes you feel invincible. I love Standing on the edge of a building looking out over the city lights, or as the sun is rising and setting. The large trees creating an imperfect line, dividing the color changing sky from the beautiful landscape below.. especially here in Africa.

Have you ever heard of finding thin places? The places that call to you, draw you in and you realize that in that moment – in that place – there is little division between the holy and the ordinary. A place on earth where you feel the veil between this world and the other world is thin.. A place that you feel Gods presence a little extra in that moment. Where you feel closest to God.

Well I cherish moments like this, and usually find them in moments I don’t expect. Like rooftops.

Rooftops. A place where you can look out at the world and feel unseen, where you’re able to observe the outside world and the craziness that surrounds you in silence.

Rooftops. A place where dancing in the rain is most fun!

Rooftops. Where sharing testimonies and having team time can feel so peaceful.

Rooftops. A place to start and end the day watching Gods creation waking up and going to sleep just as he imagined.

Rooftops. A place where worship can be illuminated.

Worship. Where I always feel closest to God.

Worship on rooftops. One of the thin places I have found here on my journey with the world race.

One night in particular stands out. I was in bed reading when I was asked by my roommate to join her on the roof. She really just felt called to surrender herself that night and worship God as loud as she wanted with no restraint. I was hesitant to join because I was cozy in my bed, but she knew me too well to even think I’d pass on personal worship on a beautiful roof in Ghana. So we climbed the stairs to the top of our guest house, and without a plan, just turned on some music and with arms wide we worshiped and worshiped hard!!
There was flashes of heat lightening, winds we hadn’t felt in days, a chill in the air, cool enough to give you goosebumps. A feeling of peace as more friends joined, I felt so free with my arms raised and my voice cracking with no shame!! You know your giving your all when you lose your voice!

Worship on the roof… simple but powerful. That veil dividing our worlds was dropped and tears were inevitable as I closed my eyes and opened my heart!
