19 days till I’m off to AFRICA?! 🙂
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while! Can you believe that in 16 days I will be on my way to GA for the beginning of Launch with F Squad
I wanted to give a little update on the happenings of this upcoming month! We received our first Ministry Assignment and I am super excited about it!
We are going to be in the city of Bouake in Cote D’Ivore! The ministry that we will be working with is Jeunesse en Mission and our focus is on community development and assisting with the establishment of a new church in Klosranbo. I am beyond ready to get started but lets be honest… I am constantly running all sorts of questions through my mind like:
Am I equipped for this? What do I expect while there? Why did I never study French? Have I packed enough? Did I pack too much? Will I reach my fundraising total? Am I nuts for quitting my job and traveling the world?! Have I really read enough of the Alumni Racers packing list suggestion blogs?! ( I should really stop, my list just keeps getting bigger and bigger!!) Have I packed and unpacked my bag enough to know if I have everything and my bad isn’t too heavy!?
The questions are endless, but one thing I know is that the joy and passion has not diminished. Every time I am asked about the Race or talk about the trip with my peers, the smile grows and I am reminded of the most important question, Does God know what he’s doing? And the answer is ABSOLUTLY. He has brought me this far and has shown me over and over again that I truly was called to this and he has so much in store for me this next year. So am I anxious about the little things, you betcha…. but the opportunities that lie ahead of me are so much greater than any anxiety, doubts or fears I may carry. I just have to trust Him.
One thing that I want to focus on while I am in Africa, is to really take in the moments I will have on this journey. Not having access to constant communication with family and friends back home I will be able to focus on me, my mission and God. I will be taking a break from social media, but don’t worry, I will be uploading weekly Blogs! 🙂 This will be the best way to hear my stories and learn more about what and how I am doing. Due to not being able to advertise on social media about my fundraising as much as I have been able to the last couple of months, my blog will be the main focal point for donating! So please subscribe to my blog to receive updates via email and help me keep the word flowing about my dead line!!
I am currently roughly $4,000 short of my $17,700 goal, and in order to meet this goal I am still looking for support from you! I am beyond grateful for the prayers, encouragement and donations that I have already received, I wouldn’t have made it this far without all of the help from all of you! Please continue to spread the word, tell your friends and family and subscribe to my blog to receive updates and if you feel led to support what I am doing, press the little orange button that says “DONATE” to send your tax deductible donation! Every penny counts and goes directly to my World Race funds. This fund will cover my food, transportation (including flights) and my living arrangements throughout the 11 months.
I do also have a couple t-shirts ($20), bracelets ($12 for silver $7 for adjustable) and necklaces ($8) left that are for sale as well! please let me know if you are interested!
Again, thank you so much and I hope you all have a wonderful New Year, I know I am excited to see what this year holds for me. I hope your year is full of just as much excitement and adventures.
