First adventure day in Cambodia!!
–
You’d think by this first photo that we spent the day looking at beautiful architecture like this building right here, but would you believe me if I told you this beauty was filled with remains and skeletons of Cambodians that were brutally tortured and murdered right here in Phnom Penh.. these are the “killing fields” and prison of the Cambodian genocide run by Pol Pot leader of the Khmer Rouge Regime.

During the rule of the Khmer Rouge Regime between 1975 and 1979 the people were continuously being deceived, they thought that when the regime over ran the government they would bring peace and opportunity but instead the innocent people of this community were tricked, bused to unknown places, placed under arrest and eventually executed. Almost everyone suspected to be associated with the former government, foreign governments, any type of professional and intellectuals..basically anyone who was a threat, anyone who had status and money were arrested.
–

Once they were arrested they were brought to S21 which was a school turned into a prison during this time. In this prison the individuals were interrogated, tortured and forced to make false confessions to crimes they didn’t commit…only to be murdered once the paperwork was complete. millions of men, women and children were eventually brutally executed.

We spent the whole day walking through the fields of mass grave sites, walking down the halls of the prison cells, stood where these innocent individuals were treated so inhumane, beaten, tortured, starved and killed. My mind cannot wrap around the idea that a human can be so heartless. Where was Jesus for these individuals. We just saw first hand why the earth truly needs Jesus and why we are here to tell the world! How can one bring themselves that low to follow a man who wants to basically kill everyone, including his own army.. how could all these people sit back and watch this happen and not speak up!?

My heart is so heavy tonight as i rememver that this was only 40 years ago, I could be speaking to someone tonight that has lost a mother, father, sibling, extended family or friends! People are still hurting, people are still full of questions. It wasn’t until recent Years that more and more information and graves are Being discovered and talked about. The secret war is out! And I think everyone needs to learn about what truly happened here.
