Seeing as how the trip we are on is called the World Race, I guess it’s time to tell you about the race aspect of this journey. We had our first race in Johannesburg before we left Africa. We didn’t win. We had our second race this past week in Bangkok. We didn’t win again. But a on a lighter note we came in second and had a blast running around the city. We got some funny pictures as well. I will let them tell the story.

Sometimes we may wonder what is the point of doing a race in the middle of a mission trip. It’s crossed my mind a few times, especially after the frustration we experienced with the first race. There are so many parallels between running a race and living the Christian life though. We can learn so many lessons from this literal race that we can apply to our lives. Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perserverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” We learned how to perservere, how to run with integrity, and how to fix our eyes on the ultimate goal. We also learned about generosity. The winning team gets $50 for their team and $50 to give to another ministry. Concrete won the race this time and graciously decided to give our team the other $50 for us to use in ministry. We will be using it do our bar ministry in Pattaya. God is good and he provides. We just need to keep our eyes fixed on Him.
