First I want to say that God is amazing. If you want to see what He´s done so far check out my teammate´s blogs: Julie, Beth, Jenny, and Casey. We have followed the Lord from Managua, Nicaragua to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The Lord told us to leave there after a couple of days and we followed him a small town just outside of Tegucigalpa called Valle de Angeles. It´s a touristy place where people come on the weekends to buy local Honduran made arts and crafts. When we first arrived, we saw a place called Christian Vision Ministries so we walk up and talked to them. I spoke with the pastor in charge there and asked about places to stay. Since we are relying on the Lord to provide, we didn´t want to stay in a hotel or hostel. He told us (this is all in Spanish by the way) that there was a place about 2km down the road that was a camp where we could pitch our tents. He also offered to let us stay at his church. He said there was no water at his church, and it was a good ways up the mountain that we would have to walk, but we were more than welcome. Well as encumbered as we were with our 50 lb. packs, we chose the camp that was closer. On the way down the road, we met a lady, Letisia and her son, Noe who lived near there. We asked her where the camp was and she said just down the road. She then offered to let us stay on property behind her house instead. She said she could give us water if we needed it. We thankfully accepted, and her son, with jubilation and a huge smile, helped us set up our things in the field behind her home.
We slept in our tents that night, and then got up the next day to go into the town and maybe talk to people around town and find out what was going on. After lunch, Noe came running into town to tell us people had been walking through the field and unzipped one of our tents. He said his mom said we should move our stuff to there house because it would be safer. Well we went back to check things out, and only one pair of shoes that were not really wanted were taken. So we went to talk to Leti about where we would stay and she showed us a large room upstairs where we could all sleep. We were overjoyed. We didn´t lose anything, and now we had a room for all of us to sleep in. As we were moving our stuff into the house, Leti came up and started telling us about how they used to live in a small house on the mountain. She said she had prayed for a long time to have a bigger house so she could have a place for missionaries to say. They moved into the house they are in now 5 months ago. She said us being there was an answer to her prayers. It was incredible how God worked it all out. We had no idea where we would stay and we just met her on the road. How amazing is our God?
We went to church with her last night, and met a body of believers that are overflowing with the joy of the Lord. They sang and danced before the Lord. Then we heard a shofar blow across the sanctuary, and we knew we were where God wanted us. God never ceases to amaze me. I am learning about relying on Him. Here is another household along our journey where we can let the peace of the Lord remain because they were obedient and loving and gave us what we need (read Matthew 10 and Luke 10 to find out what I mean). Praise God for His provision.
