Prison ministry was one of the best parts of my time in Panama. We got to sing with the prisoners, do dramas for the prisoners, and share testimonies. This was only my second time doing prison ministry and I was still a bit nervous because I was entering a prison in another country. But I remembered the powerful service from my previous prison ministry so I went with great expectations that God would move.

God did not disappoint! As much as I know God used us to minister and encourage the prisoners; He also used them to minister to us! They prayed over us and shared their encouraging testimonies. One thing that has resonated in my spirit was their freedom! Here they were behind bars all day and night, day after day, year after year but the freedom in their lives was incredible. They worshiped and praised God with true freedom in their spirit even though they were physically in jail.

How many people wake up everyday in prison? Not behind bars, but in a spiritual prison. A prisoner to self doubt, a prisoner to depression, a prisoner to addictions, a prisoner to worry, a prisoner to lies. Too many people wake up everyday in prison! The prisoners showed me what it looked like to wake up in freedom which is how God wants each of us to wake up every day. So choose today to wake up tomorrow and each following day in freedom.
