One of the main things I’ve learned on the Race is to be who you are! God created each of us unique with how we look, what we like, and what we are good at. All of these things make us who we are.
I’ve learned that I love to cook for others, so I do it often. I’ve learned that hanging out in big crowds is not always my thing, so I don’t do it unless I really want to. I’ve learned that I love to talk to people one on one, especially those people that tend to get looked over in a crowd. I’ve learned that every sport is not my thing, but I still have a competitive side and can hang with the guys in laser tag and will challenge anybody to a card game. I’ve learned that praise and worship is my heart beat. I’ve learned to be happy with my body. I’ve learned I like raw carrots, so there is normally one in my purse. I’ve learned I like a schedule and a plan. I’ve learned God created me this way and loves me just the way I am.
More than learning the things I like, I’ve learned who I am in the Lord. I am a child of the most high King. I am set apart and appointed. I am blessed and highly favored. I am forgiven. I am redeemed. I am loved by my Heavenly Father and His perfect love casts out all fear. I am a conqueror.
Because of who I am in Him I don’t need man’s approval. Because of who I am in Him I don’t need to worry about my future. Because of who I am in Him I don’t need to fear when I mess up. Because of who I am in Him I don’t need to search for love. Because of who I am in Him I don’t need to fear rejection.
Because my identity is in the Lord I can love more. I can walk in freedom. I can be happy and joyful. I can be at peace. I can be secure that my future is bright. I can help others. I can laugh. I can enjoy life.
Who do you say you are? Have you found your identity in the Lord?
