Word: Inspire
One of the hardest things over the past couple months of preparing for the World Race has been different people telling me I am an inspiration. I didn’t think it was true…if they knew my doubts and fears and how I just want to say I can’t do it then they wouldn’t call me an inspiration. In my mind the parents who kept praying for their kids and the women who kept fighting for her marriage and the single parent who did everything for their child are the inspirations. But after this word “inspiration” kept being said by different people then maybe it was true and I needed to evaluate my self perception.
So, I went to the good ole dictionary – yes, I am an English teacher by trade.
- Inspiration = a thing or person that inspires
- Inspire = to influence or impel
- Impel = to drive or cause to move onward
So people are saying I am somebody who inspires them because I influence or impel them to cause them to move forward. WOW!
I’m deciding today to defeat my self doubt and be a walking inspiration. This takes life to another whole level and responsibility. But the truth is I have always wanted to inspire people, that is why I became a teacher. On the other hand, I’m going on the World Race to show God’s love…not be an inspiration because its about the Kingdom, not me. But humbly I want this trip to be an inspiration to everybody around me so I can be the person who inspires them to show God’s love to each person they come in contact with.
I choose to be an inspiration. Will you do the same? Join me in purposefully inspiring those around you to show God’s love by your example, causing them to move forward.
