Malaysia – Humble Servant: this month we were in Gua Musang to teach English and help with flood relief. At the beginning of the month we didn’t know if we could make it to our city because of the flooding and destruction left after the waters receded. Our team was happy to find out we would be going and would be helping with flood relief. It was amazing to bring God’s hope and love by helping with the flood cleanup. I was so humbled to see their faithfulness to God even after having to clean up after 9 feet of flood water that invaded their homes and businesses leaving behind mud caked on all their belongings. I was humbled to serve people of such faith who could not openly share their faith, but still chose to passionately serve the Lord even after they were hit by such disaster.
Thailand – Spiritual Warrior: this month was amazing! We worked with an organization called Remember Nhu who has 4 children’s homes for kids who were at high risk to be sold into the sex industry. They took the kids in, provided food, clothes, and education (many things these children had never had before). We worked on the construction site of the new boys home each day and went to one of the children’s homes for dinner and to play with the kids each night. It was amazing to see their joy! We felt the spiritual warfare heavy, especially at the beginning of the month. It was evident that the devil didn’t like the ministry going on because tribes are no longer selling their kids because they see the potential each child has through Remember Nhu. So our team began to wage war against the enemy and did not let him keep us down because we were doing the work of the Most High King and we are victorious. It was awesome to see the impact this organization is making in each child, each family, each tribe which will change the culture of Thailand. I will forever be a spiritual warrior for those trapped in the sex industry and for the cultures who allow it. God is changing the culture!
Laos – Strong Tower: this month my team and I were looking for unsung heroes in Laos. We were looking for new ministry contacts in a closed country which was a challenge. We came across some awesome ministries and met some amazing missionaries, but none were currently hosting short term teams. I’m so privileged to have met them. It’s inspiring the risks they take being in a closed country and it was evident that the Lord was their strong tower and it was only by His strength and calling they were loving each second in Laos. I on the other hand didn’t enjoy every second of Laos or any second of when I had food poisoning, but in the midst the Lord was my strong tower!
Cambodia – Comforter: sadly my time in Cambodia was only two days until I received the news of my stepdad passing away. It was a long journey home and tough to say goodbye to a great man. But in every second the Lord was my comforter and gave me strength for everything that was to come. The song “I’m glad I know the peace speaker yes I know him by name” often filled my spirit and when I didn’t have the words to say I’m so thankful I could just rest in His peace and comfort. The awesome part is that God freely gives His peace and comfort when we ask…we don’t have to earn it or do anything for it!
Thank you for all your prayers and support during my World Race journey, especially during this last month.
