We met our ministry contact at Dublin Christian Mission on Saturday and we had a brief orientation to DCM and to the Irish culture. There are so many things that we had to be aware of being part of the culture of Ireland.  Just small things like the view of time not being important to keep up with, cursing just being a part of the culture even for small children, their view of family and what it means (real sacrifice) to become a born-again Christian. Some things that we found especially interesting was how even though we are both English speaking there is so much that is different even in English. The staff at the camp really helped us learn these things before the families got there so that we could use correct lingo with the kids and know what they were talking about. Here are just a few words that we learned this week.
