It's official!
The July 2013 S Squad Route has been changed.
When praying about a specific route to apply for, we are essentially praying about which group of people at which time God is calling us to be a part of because all of the routes are subject to change at any given time.
Route changes happen for a variety of reasons – sometimes ministry contacts fall through, sometimes there is a natural disaster or disease we need to stay away from, and sometimes God just has another plan. So, this might not be the only time it happens. All I know for sure is that Adventures in Missions always has our best interests at heart.
That being said, Honduras will no longer be my first destination. Instead, I will begin with Guatemala.
My first three months will now look like this:
Guatemala
Honduras
Nicaragua
So, no Costa Rica. I'm a little bummed only because I have heard how beautiful Costa Rica is and that it has been a World Race favorite. However, God willing, maybe another opportunity will arise at another time.
Now, here's a little secret I would like to let you in on. When I initially applied for the World Race, I did not pray about when to launch and which route to choose. I simply chose this route because it was the soonest launch date available at the time and it was the only one, out of four routes launching at this time, to have destinations in Central America. I love the culture and wanted to go.
One day I decided I needed to ask God about this to make sure I was really following Him in the entire process, so I wrote out all eight routes that were available at the time, four launching in July and four more in September. I prayed over each route and was even pondering switching to the 3rd route in September, which had Guatemala on the route. I wanted to go there for some reason and thought the extra fundraising time couldn't hurt. However, during that time, God made it especially clear that the July 2013 – Route 3, S Squad, was exactly where I was to remain.
So here I am, 15 days away from launch, when an e-mail shows up in my notification bar on my phone notifying me that my first stop on the World Race will now be Guatemala. I know nothing about this country, but God does and obviously He has a plan.
As of right now, the rest of my route remains the same. From Nicaragua, we travel to:
Philippines
Thailand
Cambodia
India
Nepal
Kenya
Uganda
Rwanda
I couldn't be more excited about the change and am looking forward to discovering all God has in store for this squad as we launch into our World Race.
