My team is staying in Sumbawanga, Tanzania this month and it feels like I’m home. Don’t ask me why, but it does and I love it! We’re living with our pastor and his family and who knows how many people. (scratch that, I learned that there are 17 of us living together right now!) There is always someone to talk to and many children around. The kids have tried teaching my some Swahili…so far I’ve failed most of their tests =( I’m working on it though!
We attended church Sunday and it was an amazing experience. It’s the epitome of what you hear African church is like (except it’s not 5 consecutive hours long, it’s 2-3 hours in the morning and then 2-3 at night). Lots of songs, dancing, clapping, yelling, amazing! God is moving and His people are moving for Him. Some of my teammates and I did in fact go join in all of the dancing in the front, it was great!
Saturday night Pastor asked me to get my guitar so we could practice for church. So we sat in the living room just playing and singing for a while. It’s not a matter of if I’ll play, it’s phrased as to exactly what I will play =) and somewhere along the way God’s given me confidence in playing…thanks God!
We’ll learn more today about what exactly our ministry here will look like, but we are beyond blessed with our contact and our church here…we’ve found family. It’s hard to explain, it just is what it is. The 54 hours of travel to get here were worth it…
I probably won’t be on here much this month because for one I’m in the middle of nowhere, and for two God still has me in this place of abandonment and I’m learning more about what that looks like…so I will try to update each week, but I make no promises =) you might just get an overload of updates later.
Thank you again to everyone that has encouraged and supported me on this journey! I mailed out raffle prizes last week to my parent’s house and then they’ll mail them to each of you!
On the note of finances though, I have until December 15th to raise another $3,200 for me to be fully funded!!! This is my final support goal and once again I have to make it to continue on, so if you could help me continue to get the word out that would be a huge blessing! If you are willing to do a fundraiser or have any fundraising ideas that I can do from here, let me know! I have very limited internet, but I’m willing to try whatever I can!
