It’s hard to leave the place you love, it hurts in a way that you just don’t quite get.

Sunday night my squad gathered by a picnic table near our tents to worship. To be honest, I had been arguing with God most of the day. Why isn’t now the time for me to stay in Uganda? Why am I on this journey of the world race? Why did You allow me to have an amazing day in the town I love, and then continue telling me not now? I don’t get it…that’s all I could muster as I just cried to God that I didn’t want to leave. So as my squad began worshipping, I couldn’t sing the words they were, my mind was racing too fast to be able to stop and worship. God just kept pulling at my heart “Come to the secret place with Me, Come away with Me.” So I walked away from the group, and sat down under the stars. (the African sky is one of my favorite things in the world) I just sat in God’s presence, looking at His beautiful creation and running through all of the questions in my mind.

Why am I here?? I ran through all of the possible reasons I could come up with, but ultimately it comes down to this- I’m here to know God more, to learn things that He can best teach me through this journey, to grow into who God has called me to be. Yep, that’s why I’m here…it’s not always easy, it’s not always fun, but it’s life. It’s real, it’s family, and it’s where God has called me for this time of my life.

God just continued to remind me, I’m here to know Him more…and for that to happen right now it looks like me being on the race. It looks like me seeking God more, no matter what that means…and saying yes to anything God asks of me. God has done so much in my heart and changed my perspective on life already that I can only imagine what more God has planned for me! It’s crazy to think that I have another 7 months on this journey…

If you haven’t read my last blog- My support account isn’t where it needs to be.  I still need to raise $5,200 by the end of December and I have to have $1,900 of that in my account by October 31st for me to stay on the race. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or you can follow the Support Me link on the left of my blog for information on how to financially support me on the race!
