Colorado isn't exactly well known for being a rainy state. With an average of 350 days of sunshine a year, the last week or so of constant rainfall is unusual in the extreme.
I'm sitting at the dining room table of my new house in Fort Collins, CO, listening as the thunder rolls in like the tide, one wave of it after another. The lights flicker with each strike of lightning, and even the trees are looking a little overwhelmed by the storm. Inside, I am warm and dry and drinking a cup of hot tea labeled as a "Destressing" tea. I'm three weeks passed college graduation, so you'd think that I'd be over stress by now. Mostly, that's true.
In any case, my table is full of my current and old prayer journals, my Bible and assorted pens. The tea sits to my right and steams quietly. It smells of mint and chamomile and lemongrass. I take a sip , lean back in my chair and flip through my journals. I've become more of a blogger than a journaler in recent years, but my prayers remain something that need to be scribbled out. The physicality of writing a prayer makes it more real than typing it ever could. I want to remember how I prayed.
In February, I asked the Lord for some very specific things. I needed a summer job, a temporary place to live, definite financial assistance in the the fundraising department and confirmation that I was meant to go on World Race.
Looking at a praise entry written just two days ago, I see His faithful hand, His provision. The day I left my job in Greeley, I got a job nannying the world's most wonderful kids in Fort Collins. The room I'm staying in is a sublet from a friend, who not only let me have the room, but also the furniture in it so that I could sell mine. Instead of depositing money into my support account, my parents decided to fund my start up costs for this mission, such as my health insurance and gear. And my confirmation… Well, He brings it daily. The first major example is in the financial area.
I met my first financial deadline of the year last week. Through your generous help, the Lord has provided the first $3,000 necessary for me to go on the World Race. I can't tell you how blessed I feel to have such a strong support network with a community who believes in what I'm doing. Thank you so much!
With that in mind, I will have another deadline in August or September. I need to raise another $3,000 prior to leaving for Guatemala in October. The Lord is the ultimate provider, our Jehovah Jirah, and He can do above and beyond all we can ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20). I would just continue to ask you to prayerfully consider partnering with me financially as I go out on the World Race.
If 25 people commit to supporting me with just $50 every month for a year, I would be fully funded for this trip. Even if you can't commit to a regular commitment, please consider a one time donation to my support account. Every little bit helps!
Thank you so much for being more generous than I could have ever imagined! I am richly blessed to have each one of you in my life, supporting and encouraging me as this journey begins! Please continue to pray for provision for myself and my Team as we seek the Lord and step out in faith as He leads us.
Blessings,
Heather
