It’s Saturday January 9 2010 and I’ve been in Africa for over a week, and I
feel like the world race has finally started.
That past 5 months have been nothing compared to being in
Africa.  We’ve been doing ministry for 4 days, today
is day 5 and I’m already exhausted.
Coming off a month where I felt completely dry and empty to a month
where I’m pouring out ALL the time has been hard.  I’m feeling empty because I can’t get enough
time to fill up all that I’m pouring out.
As a team we’re not us to being busy all the time, other than
Ireland our ministry has been
very little with a lot of room for personal growth and time with Jesus.  I’m now regretting the fact that I didn’t
take advantage of that time!

I’m almost half-way through and to be completely
honest I have no clue Who I am anymore.
I’ve been broken and molded and I’m now trying to figuring out Who I
Am.  One of my favorite songs is Who Am I
by Casting Crowns:

Who Am I

that the
Lord of all the earth

would care
to know my name

would care
to feel my hurt

Who Am I

that the
bright and morning start

would chose
to light the way

for my ever
wondering heart

Not because
of who I am

But because
of what you’ve done

Not because
of what I’ve done

But because
of who you are

I am a
flower quickly fading

here today
and gone tomorrow

a wave tossed in the ocean

a vapor in
the wind

still you
hear me when I’m calling

Lord you
catch me when I’m falling

and you’ve
told me who I am

I am yours

Who am I

that the
eyes that see my sin

would look
on me with love

and watch me
rise again

Who am I

that the
voice that calmed the sea

would call
out through the rain

and calm the
storm in me

Not because
of who I am

But because
of what you’ve done

Not because
of what I’ve done

But because
of who you are

I am a
flower quickly fading

here today
and gone tomorrow

a wave
tossed in the ocean

a vapor in
the wind

still you
hear me when I’m calling

Lord you
catch me when I’m falling

and you’ve
told me who I am

I am yours

Whom shall I
fear, Whom shall I fear

Cause I am
yours,  I am yours

One thing I know is that I am the Lords, my
identity is found in Him, and my past does not define Who I Am.  I was given a bookmark around the beginning
of the trip that I kind of just put in the pile of letters and things but
recently I’ve been drawing to it so that Satan does not get a hold of me.  Below are all things from the bookmark that
have helped me get through this time in
Africa.

My Identity

“Understanding your
identity in Christ is absolutely essential for your success at living a
victorious Christian life.” Neil T. Anderson

Satan’s Lie:

You are a sinner because
you sin.

God’s Truth:

You are a saint (one
declared righteous by God) who sins.

Satan’s Lie:

Your identity comes from
what you have done.

God’s Truth:

Your identity comes from
what God has done for you.

Satan’s Lie:

Your identity comes from
what people say about you.

God’s Truth:

Your identity comes form
what God says about you.

Satan’s Lie:

Your behavior tells you
what to believe about yourself.

God’s Truth:

Your belief about yourself
determines your behavior.
