The past week has been filled with all kinds of things. We are working with an awesome ministry called Lighthouse in Action (lighthouseinaction.org) and doing a variety of things in Chiang Mai. Our days have been split between monk chats, slum ministry, prayer walks in the bar area, and ATLs (Ask The Lord times where we prayed and asked Him what was on His heart.)
It was a neat experience to talk with the monks about their beliefs and ask them questions. We met with the same monk 3 times. What a divine appointment that was – that rarely happens! We got to spend time talking to him about his family, where he grew up, etc. and then got to ask questions about Buddhism and what he believes. We also asked him what he knew about Christianity and he rattled off quite a few things, and not the usual stories that most people know. He also told us that he actually owns 3 Bibles in 3 different languages! Please be praying for his heart to change and to seek the truth. He has the tools right in front of him, seeds have already been planted! ๐
Slum ministry was fun, we got to play with a few kids for a while and just love on them with our actions. It was so fun to see their joy, even though they have nothing. The slums are filled with beautiful people and children, their joy was radiant. We were so blessed to get to play games and hang out with the little ones in this area. Man, did they wear us out!
One thing that Lighthouse in Action is really big on is prayer and letting the Holy Spirit guide. It is awesome to see such a spirit centered ministry going wherever God asks, even the ugly places. Our team was constantly out walking around the streets and praying for this city. Not only for the places like bars and temples, but everywhere in between. Sometimes it seems like prayers take a while to be answered, but I am certain that God keeps His promises and will answer the prayers that have been prayed over this place. We didn’t get to do certain things this week because there were investigations going on in the areas that we would typically be working in. But we did get to saturate this city in prayer, and God enjoys that just as much as anything else!
Tomorrow (Monday AM) we are going out to do a different kind of ministry with Lighthouse in Action, we are headed out to the village! ๐ We are going to be splitting up in teams and working in different areas, living and working with people in their own villages. We are so excited to get a taste of life outside the city and to work with more beautiful Thai people. Actions speak much louder than words, and we are called to love those that are sometimes overlooked by the world.
We will be back in Chiang Mai for a bit next weekend right before we head off to Cambodia! WOW, where the heck has this first month gone?!
Thanks for the prayers! ๐
Love,
Heather
Things to be praying for: stirring in our monk friend’s heart so he would turn to Jesus, continued health of the squad, safe travels to our next ministry site, open hearts of people in the village, and that the Lord continues to work in Chiang Mai.
