DISCLAIMER: IF YOU ARE COMPLETELY LOVING YOUR LIFE AND WALK WITH CHRIST THE WAY IT IS AND DESIRE NO CHANGE OR GROWTH…..DON’T READ THIS BLOG!

Let’s face it…..most of us have daily routines. For the majority of you, it probably looks a little something like this:

Wake up…drink a cup (or two) of coffee…eat some sort of breakfast…go to work…eat lunch…want to take a nap…get back to work because you know if you take a nap you won’t have a job any longer…get off work (finally!)…go home and decide you’re ready for dinner…stand in the kitchen staring in the cabinets and the refrigerator…finally decide on something to eat…eat…watch some TV…go to bed. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. (Oh yeah, shower is in there somewhere too…)

You might have some variations in your day, but for the most part this probably describes you. As you have most likely noticed, this is not typical routine on the World Race. Routine looks much differently for us. Routine isn’t only about our daily schedules. Most days we wake up in the morning and have no idea what we are doing that day.

The routine I'm talking about is spiritual. We can get in a routine of reading our Bibles, praying, and telling people about Jesus. We get to a point where we may not be growing in our relationship with God. The spiritual hunger and thirst has faded.

I found myself at this point last month. I actually wrote a short blog about it here, but I wanted to go a little more in detail now.

I have seen so many hurting people, physically and spiritually. It can be easy to become numb to some of the things you see. I realized that I had come to this point and that it needed to change. I prayed a prayer that has changed me completely. My relationship with God has strengthened. How I view God, people, and myself has changed.

It is possible that you are at this point as well. You are in such a spiritual routine. You go to church. You pray. You might even read your Bible. But you are not experiencing any growth in your relationship with God. If you are willing and ready to get out of this routine, I challenge you to pray this prayer:

Lord, open my eyes that I may see people as You see them.

I challenge you to not only read your Bible, but study it. Ask God to show you something new and how you can apply it in your life right now. Be willing to accept the change that God has for you. It may be painful at the moment, but it is definitely worth it!

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.
