I have the privilege of being able to help lead a small group at church on Wednesday nights. We just started a new series and it has been amazing! I was responsible to lead the lesson last night on "Jesus: The Healer"

Rewind a couple of months…….

During camp this past summer I got to meet an 11 year old student named Little Shawn Blatzer (his dad's name is Shawn, so he is Little Shawn). It was an absolute blessing getting to know this kid throughout the week. Little Shawn and his dad came up to me one day and asked if Little Shawn could climb the alpine tower one afternoon.

For those who may not know, an alpine tower is a 50-foot climbing tower with different obstacles and varying levels of difficulties.

Shawn goes on to tell me that Little Shawn has been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of brain cancer. He was currently doing aggressive treatments and had a port in his shoulder to get these treatments. Little Shawn was physically weak from the treatments, but that wouldn't hold him back from making it to the top of this 50-foot climbing tower. He is determined to not let cancer rule his life. He knows that God is the ruler over this world and everything in it.

I climbed up the tower with Little Shawn to help him and be some encouragement along the way. It was such an amazing feeling when he got to the top of the tower and looked down at his dad. I can't even imagine what Little Shawn or his dad Shawn was feeling! Here are a couple pictures that Little Shawn's dad took to document the occasion:

Fast forward to today……

Little Shawn is now also dealing with spinal cancer and has decided to undergo radiation treatments. Not too long ago, Little Shawn was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

So, why have I decided to share this with you all?

I believe in the power of prayer. Will you join with me in praying for this amazing family? I believe it was no coincidence that I was teaching on Jesus: The Healer last night. I know God can heal Little Shawn physically. God has already healed him spiritually.

Again I ask…..please join me in praying for this young man and his family as well. Pray that the comfort and peace of God will completely engulf this family.

UPDATE:

Little Shawn has gone on to be with our Heavenly Father. He is now fully healed and worshipping our Savior. I am extremely thankful to have known Little Shawn, even if it was just for a little while. Please continue to pray with me for his family.
