For the grand opening of my World Race blog, I have decided to share with you an important lesson that I have been learning over the past year: when the Holy Spirit is prompting you to do something, don’t delay- just do it! He probably has something awesome to show you and to teach you. The Lord’s plan and timing is vastly different from my own, and it is far better.

The World Race wasn’t a dream that I had thought and prayed about for months or years before finally deciding to apply. I had heard about it a few times and thought it sounded like a great program, but I didn’t give it much thought. This past spring, however, I kept hearing about it from friends and in conversations with strangers. My mom even sent me an email with a link to a current Racer’s blog post that she stumbled upon and wanted me to read, not knowing that the World Race had already begun to pop up on my radar. I felt a tug on my heart to know more about it so I decided to research the program and read through a few past racers’ blogs. Within a few days, my excitement grew over the possibility of world travel and getting to be a part of spreading the gospel to the ends of the earth, so I filled out an application. I was fearful that others might see me as impulsive by making such a big decision so quickly. But the Lord’s timing is perfect. I felt prompted to respond right away, so I didn’t hesitate.

In the weeks following, I covered my application in prayer. I sought advice and asked my family and friends to pray with me. I asked God to close the door if this wasn’t what He had next for me, but if it were His will, then I would go. Two months after I applied, I was accepted to the World Race. Let the journey begin!

There is a world beyond myself that needs the love of Christ; nations that are in need of a Savior. God has given me an adventurous and courageous spirit and a heart that deeply desires to care for others. The World Race is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stop what I’m doing and embark on this incredible adventure to pursue the One who created me; He who is allowing me to be His hands, feet, and voice to people around the world who are desperate for hope. I’m excited for my love for Jesus to shine and be a light in dark places, and to give others comfort and hope.

This is more than an adventure. I am going on the World Race as an answer to the call of Jesus to “go out into all the world and preach the gospel to all nations”. (Mark 16:15)

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,

‘whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’

And I said, ‘Here I am! Send me!’”
