We aren’t allowed to leave the house today.
Today there is a demonic spiritual ritual happening in the streets of Katadji, Cote d’Ivoire.
A lot of people are scared when they come to Africa because they can get sick. Most of our squad did get sick. However when you come to Africa I feel like you should also be scared of the other things you can catch here.
People really love Jesus here and the presence of the Holy Spirit is stronger than anything I have experienced. This means that the devil and his demons are going to work harder to get the people of Africa away from God’s eternal love. He is trying very hard.
On April 20th, 2017 we were not allowed to leave the house at all. We were told that it was a demonic day and that bad things were going to be happening in the streets. Our team found this odd but didn’t put too much thought into it until the next day.
On April 21st, 2017 we went into town to try and get wi-fi. At the internet cafe a few boys asked us if we wanted to see videos of what happened the day before. We were all very curious so we watched. These videos were a wake up calls to how extreme the spiritual warfare is here in Africa. There were two videos.
The first video was of a man with a knife down his throat. He was spitting up blood. There was a witch following him around. They were both dressed in all white.
The second video was of two men. Both of them had stabbed themselves. The first in the side and I didn’t see the second because I was getting grossed out. The two men were also dressed in white.
I don’t know why these certain people were dressed in white but I have two guesses. It is easier to see blood on white or it is a sign of purity.
This was a wake up call to my team.
We go out into the villages twice a week. You can feel the spiritual warfare going on in certain houses. The Holy Spirit is very present here in Africa but that doesn’t mean the devil will stop fighting.
As scary as all of this can be I am not worried. I have God on my side and when I lean on Him in these situations I know I am protected. Also, I put on the armor of God because wouldn’t go to fight in a war with out it.
Ephesians 6:14-17 talks about the armor of God. “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
I strongly believe in the power of the armor of God.
Just because you are at home in America doesn’t mean spiritual warfare is any less real. Please get in the habit of asking God to protect you daily.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” -Ephesians 6:12
I just want to encourage everyone to put on your armor of God daily, for our battle isn’t against flesh and blood. The spirit realm is very real and you need to protect yourself.
