I was reminded of something the other day at evangelism in Sunyani, Ghana. Dream big. It is a simple statement but God can do so much more in your life if you allow Him into this.
It all started with a women named Jane. She asked us why God doesn’t always give us things we ask for. One of the girls on my team had an amazing explanation for this.
So imagine you keep asking God for a chair. You want this chair with all your heart and God giving you this chair lines up with everything in His word. However no matter how hard you pray for this chair God doesn’t give you the chair. His reasoning, He has bigger plans. He wants to give you a whole house. In this house you can put your chair and a table and so many other things God is going to bless you with. BUT you won’t take your eyes off the chair long enough for God to show you His dream for your life.
Before I signed up for the World Race I tried to go on another mission trip. My church goes to the Dominican Republic every year. I decided a bit last minute that this is what I wanted to do. I knew I had a heart for missions and this trip would change my life. However nothing worked out. Money didn’t come in, I couldn’t get off work and countless other things. I was frustrated because a mission trip lines up with God’s word. “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 10:15. Thankfully I didn’t give up on this calling that easy.
About a month later I found out about the World Race and I signed up. I went from a 1 week mission trip to a 48 week long mission trip (11 months). How much more will that change my life? How much more will God work and use me? How much bigger is THAT dream? His dream.
I just want to encourage whoever reads this, even if it’s just my mom and grandma. Dream bigger. Stop looking at the chair and doubting God because He isn’t giving you the chair. God wants to give you a house. All you have to do is refocus your eyes on Him and He will show you the way.
