DO NOT TOUCH MY ACORN
(TRAINING CAMP DEBRIEF)

Training camp…the most uncomfortable I have ever been spiritually, emotionally and at times physically (I’m a little out of shape). The goal of the first few days was to peel back all our layers….like an ogre….becoming completely vulnerable…with total strangers….while eating really weird food.
If that doesn’t make you lean on God, I’m not sure what will.
On day…four…maybe three…let’s just say five. On day five, it was girl’s day. One of our amazingly beautiful leaders gave us each an acorn. She read to us Isaiah 27-28 and told us to ask God what he would be planting in our hearts this season.
“Sing about a fruitful vineyard:
I, the LORD, watch over it;
I water it continually.
I guard it day and night
so that no one may harm it.”
-Isaiah 27:3

Holy Crap!! God the king of the…everything…He actually talks to you…Yes…I found out these past few days that he actually does….
Here’s how he does it. (I’m telling you this because no one ever broke it down for me like this and it changes everything.)
There are a bunch of thoughts going all the time in your head (ladies). There are FOUR main voices.
-
You
-
The World
-
The devil
-
GOD
God might be trying saying something to you, BUT the devil and the world quickly mask it with fear, doubt and judgment so you don’t listen. Through a process of renewing your mind you can train yourself to hear God’s voice. Also, it’s not always an audible voice it can be:
- a picture (usually black and white or very vivid in color)
- a word (usually you can’t stop thinking of this word)
- and sometimes the big man talks (really loud or really soft).

I’m sitting there with my acorn in hand, asking my King what he would have for me. It took a while but I saw, very vividly, a big green tree. The tree was casting a shadow but I was laying in the sunlight with friends in the green grass, laughing. The Sun was shining on our faces and joy was very present.
Through the pain, through the tears, through the small panic attacks I had because of community living (tight quarters at times)
My God was ever present handing me the gift of joy. The next season of my life will be filled with joy, and I will be filling others with the joy that I was blessed with.
SO, YOU CAN NOT TOUCH MY ACORN
***shout out to Kelli and her amazing music skills***
So many amazing things happened at training camp. If you have any questions about anything feel free to ask! God bless
