Hi!
I am so very excited and blessed for the opportunity to share the word and love God through participating in the World Race. God has been such a crucial part of my life growing up and as an adult. I am happy to serve Him wherever he leads.
When I was in grade school I attended my churches Vacation Bible School; where I was first introduced to mission work through the story of Mary Slessor. I was instantly fascinated. There is a quote from Slessor that mentions if one person could come to Christ through her work or death then her life was well used. This seemed so astonishing to me. I new that Christ had laid down His life for me, but He was perfect and the perfect sacrifice. I also new that His sacrifice was for anyone who accepted Him. Mary Slessor was willing to die for just one person. It was not till I was older that realized her willingness for just one soul was because she was living her life with Christ as her example.
I sometimes struggle to live with Christ as my example. Mostly because I find it beyond difficult to relinquish control to Him. I don’t even let other people drive me around because I have such a craving for control. To let someone else control my life seemed daunting.
This year (2019) I decided to give up the battle and let God lead. So far He has already taught me so much. I am definitely learning patience, but more importantly I am learning to place all my trust in Him for the big and the small.
A verse that has meant a lot to me this year is John 16:33. The verse is a promise of peace found in Jesus Christ. I like to call this my drop the mic verse. Because I truly feel like this verse is challenging your flesh and the world to top that. The verse not only promises peace, but says just how big my God is. Because my God “has overcome the world”.
As I journey through preparing for the World Race I have a promise of peace from a God big enough to conquer death, speak the world into existence, and take care of me. I ask that you pray for me as I actively seek to let the Lord have full control.
