83 hours..I think. Travel started on Monday morning and we FINALLY arrived in Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa on Thursday night.

  • bus from Atlanta to Richmond with a small stop in Charlotte
  • 4-5 hour wait for the bus in Richmond
  • Bus from Richmond to DC
  • 12 hour plane ride from DC to Qatar
  • 3 hour layover
  • 9 hour plane ride from Qatar to Johannesburg
  • 12 hour layover
  • 1 hour plane ride from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth
  • 1 hour van ride to Jeffery’s Bay

We all slept in some interesting places and odd positions that were not always the most comfortable, but it was fun. We all got a lot of time to spend together and we’ve already met some awesome people during our travels. Travel was not easy. It was exhausting. However, we had a great time. We stayed joyful and encouraging through our naps, airplane food, worship in the middle of the airport, walks, talks, and in meeting new people along the way. I’ve realized recently that staying joyful and positive are two of the key things that make life worth live. They are SO important. Going with the flow is also a big part of travel (and life). There is so much that we can’t control and we just have to trust that we are in God’s hands and there are so many things that happen for a reason. That frustrating delay can lead you to meet someone that you share Jesus with…that 12 hour flight can help you to meet some of the sweetest flight attendants you have ever interacted with in your life and you can make their day just by loving them the way Jesus would.
