This past weekend we got to opportunity to hike a 15’er with two locals that work with Pan de Vida that also love to hike mountains. It was absolutely incredible. We experienced sunshine, cold winds, hail, rain, lighting and thunder all within a few hours of hiking and loved it. Here are a few pictures from the day to paint a greater picture as to what we saw/experienced.

We took three buses and one 10-15 minute gondola ride up to the trail head of Rucu Pichincha.

Then after we got off the gondola we started hiking at around 12,000 ft. Isn’t the view incredible?

We found a few other fun things at the top too, like some awesome swings overlooking the city.

And sweet ponies that you could take up the mountain if you wanted to.

Then off we went up to Rucu Pichincha (the tall cloud covered peak in the top left of the photo)

We got to walk through clouds, which was beyond beautiful.

Ran into some of the beautiful ponies on the way up.

The pointiest peak is Rucu Pichincha. Look at that beast of a mountain!

Stopped for lunch in what they call the “bears den” and put on more layers to keep warm.

Katie taking a little rest because of the altitude and steep climbing. Who could blame her!

Hiking in shorts and loving it!

Trying to take a picture as fast as we could because it had just been hailing and the winds were starting to pick up.

WE MADE IT TO THE PEAK AT 15,407 ft. HALLELUJAH!!!

It was the first 15’er that all of us had done which was SWEET. Also, the Lord’s hand was so greatly evident in it all. None of us experienced any sort of altitude sickness, none of us got injured, all of us were able to summit and we even got to see a storm from the peak that was off in the distance. PRAISEEEEE!

It was so incredibly sweet to go on a new adventure and see the Lord greatly bless us and care for us as we did it.

Thank you sweet Lord for refreshing me once again through adventuring with you in the great outdoors!

Till next time,

Han 🙂
