Cambodia flew by so quickly that I didn’t even get a chance to write a blog about it until now and I am currently at the airport on a layover while traveling to Indonesia…(AHH)
SO..without further adieu here are a few things you need to know about Cambodia:
-At the end of Thailand the different teams had team changes where they left their old teams after 4 months together and got new teams.
– I had the pleasure of spending the month with team International Harvesters in the small town of Battambang.
-This month we purposely did not give them a specific ministry/ministry host to be a part of and had them spend the month doing what we call ATL (meaning ask the Lord). This gave the teams the space to sit down and Ask the Lord about a lot of things: where he wanted them to stay, what type of ministry they should take part in as a team (all within the confines of Acts 2 and Luke 10).
-The team I was with were led to spend the month loving on street children. We would go to the same dirt lot every day and play with the kids in the small neighborhood and MAN was it such a joy to consistently spend time with them. Their sweet faces are imprinted in my mind and I don’t know if I will ever forget them.
-We also found a YWAM base in BTB and joined their Crossfit gym for the month. 5 of us worked out at Crossfit 4 times a week together which brought a lot of laughs, soreness and squats (one day we did over 300 of them!!!).
-At the end of the month we traveled to Phnom Penh for the weekend to visit the killing fields and S21 (a maximum security prison). If you don’t know about the killing fields I would highly suggest doing some research on it, there are a few good documentaries done on it and a lot of articles online. Throughout the month we spent time learning more about the history of Cambodia so that we could better understand the culture and some of the things the Cambodian people have walked through (and are even still walking through now) and be able to pray on their behalf.
There are so many more things I am sure that I could share about, but that Is all I am going to write for now! 🙂
If you would like to see some of the sweet children we got to spend time with this month one of the girls on International Harvesters made this awesome video with some clips from the time we spent with them!
