When was the Last Time She Smiled?
On our way back from a lovely dinner with the headmaster of King's College, we got stuck in traffic. As I gazed out the van window, I spotted a middle-aged woman. She caught my attention over the dozen other individuals surrounding her because of her facial expression: she looked as though she were in pain; she looked as though she had not smiled in years.
Driving away, I asked myself "why am I so fortunate, so blessed? Why is it that I have wrinkles around my eyes from years of laughter? When was the last time she smiled?"
