What is the Cross?   A Method of Torture or a Reminder?

Crosses on necklaces, roofs, churches, on the wall, on a shirt, carved into a bookshelf, on someone’s forearm. Enough already! I am sick and tired of seeing crosses whenever I open my eyes. This may be a slight exaggeration, but the fact that I am tired of seeing crosses does not differ.

What does the cross mean to you?  What does it symbolize?  While I know that it is extremely iconic in the church for Christ and His death, its dominance in the geography of northern Romania bothers me. I do not look at the cross as something to be glorified. Yes, it is vital to the Christian church history, but other than that, was the cross anything more than a Roman method of torture?  Or is it a reminder of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice?

This is a story and an experience that would not be possible without the support of you. I live on $8 a day ($3 for food and $5 for housing) and I am grateful for every $1 donated in helping me be a missionary through the end of November. I have an up-coming deadline of $942 in order to keep me on the field and caring for babushkas, families, and children. Thank you in advance for partnering with me!
