My team and I are located at Kids International Ministry (KIM) along with the rest of our squad, which is a compound in a guarded community within Manila.
Our primary focus is to cook and feed twice a day within various communities, neighborhoods, and shanty towns, as well as at a gymnasium where an entire community was displaced to after the September floods demolished their homes and majority of their possessions.
While it has been heart-breaking to see these people, which are mostly children and widows, it has also been very eye-opening to the lives of those who literally have nothing or near to nothing. It has also been eye-opening and up-lifting to see their love and joy despite not owning much or having the opportunities for education–two aspects of life that used to mean more to me than I’d care to admit. So, as I love and care for these people along with my team, I am changing and loving more than I had imagined. More to come soon…!
