Silence

I don’t mind awkward silences. In fact, I am not sure I even
understand them. Am I supposed to feel awkward when it silent or are you?

I have not felt awkward in a while-or if I have, I shrug it
off so quickly that I do not really notice it.

At least between myself and others.

But between God and I-now, that is a different story,
altogether.

The truth of the matter is, I struggle with silence between
God and I. Which is why I have found it overwhelmingly necessary to take time
each day to step away and silence myself before my God.

The progress report: So far, so good. It has been a tad
challenge, to incorporate such an innocuous habit into my daily life, but worth
it-without a single doubt.

How often do we rush through our days, either hoping for
something more or just wanting the days to be over?

How often do we get so caught up in routines and habits, all
to forget to sit down for a moment, relax, and be present not just for others,
but for the Creator of all?

I am writing to myself as much as I am writing to you.

It is not easy, to be silent, but I challenge you to shut
off the radio/iPod on your way to work, home, the gym, class, or _____. I
challenge you to be silent for just a few minutes and be open to what God has
to say.

I look forward to what He has to say to all of us,
regardless of where we are and what we are doing.
