On Thursday night as the rain rushed through Bethlehem College, I sat in the back bleachers during the Call2All’s worship time and I was encouraged by having Annie Rose, Scott, and Denise from N Squad’s Ignitus team. Through their words of encouragement and love, my potential sulking (due to my foot’s pain) was quickly eradicated. I sat, soaked in their words about God and His plans for my life just as the campus’ fields soaked in the much-needed rain.
In many ways, this month’s ministry in Tarunga has been a time of soaking in His love and promises by helping with YWAM’s conferences and assisting at ChangePoint Church and Tarunga House of Prayer (THOP.) It has also been a time of new beginnings as a missions team and within my own life as well.
I was thoroughly reminded of this after Denise left to help hand out the offering buckets and a small hand rested on my shoulder. I jumped a little as I opened my eyes to see a young girl smile at me and whisper a prayer of healing for my foot and of direction for my life. Her sweet and innocent words and faith were like nothing I had previously heard before-Her unwavering trust in God was inspiring and I quickly found myself praying for her as she prayed for me. It was not until Friday evening, as I worked outside with Scott, that I officially met this girl by the name of Genesis. Her prayer, like her name, sparked a ‘beginning’ for me in the realm of trust.
To be honest, I have been struggling with trust issues with God for quite a few years. I trust Him to a certain extent, but it has been few situations in my life that I have rested in Him to such an extent that my worries and fears slip fully away. This young girl’s trust has helped me to start seeing and trusting God in a new, more innocent, way.
