Dear friends,
For the longest time, God has been planting a desire in my heart to reach the poverty-stricken regions of the world with His amazing love. In this endeavor, I feel particularly called towards African nations. With a background in the medical field, I've wanted to go on medical missions and use my training in whatever way possible, such as assisting in surgeries, giving vaccinations, and educating people about the importance of personal hygiene.
An opportunity has come up for me to travel to Sudan in March on a medical mission trip with Partners in Compassionate Care (PCC). With a median age of just 18 and a life expectancy hovering around 58, Sudan is in dire need of medical supplies, health care education and people willing and able to help. An on-going civil war has ravaged the already impoverished nation and has taken an enormous physical and emotional toll on the people, particularly women and children. In fact, the latter are often cruelly kidnapped and used as soldiers in this war.
This opportunity to serve is truly an answer to prayer! With my assistance as a surgical tech on this trip, the doctor I'm working with will be able to schedule surgeries while I'm there. I'll also be able to work in a clinic. Though on a practical level I'll be focusing my efforts on improving health care in the nation, my main objective is simply to love the Sudanese people. Meeting the immediate physical needs of the poor and the broken is only one component in the larger mission of showing them the love of Jesus.
Friends – I need your help to make it to Sudan. At this moment, I have approximately $3500 left to raise to cover airfare, ground fees, housing, transportation, food and vaccinations. Any amount, great or small, will get me closer to this goal. Though I don't have much time left to raise all my support, I know I serve an incredible, faithful God and I'm trusting that He'll meet this need! I ask you to please pray about this and determine if God is leading you to financially support my mission. Either way, I covet your support in prayer for myself, my team, and this entire process.
