A poem of the person of Jesus at the wedding in Cana:
He reclines in His chair.
His head tilts back and he lets out a laugh that everyone in the room can hear it. He’s surrounded by the people He loves.
His disciples. His Family. His community.
Celebrating. Drinking. Dancing.
He only does what He sees the Father doing, He says.
I can see Him, the person of Jesus, in the midst of those few verses.
I like to think He was the life of the party. The man trying to get those who aren’t dancing quite yet, on the dance floor.
Looking like a fool and letting all join in.
He didn’t waste time turning the water to wine, He had to get back to the conversation at the dinner table- wine in hand.
That’s the man who came to save the world.
Dancing and singing.
Drinking and laughing.
Eating and talking.
Miracles and marriage.
The person of Jesus- God incarnate
His first miracle was in the midst of celebration and marriage and friends.
If you truly know Him- you aren’t surprised.
He reclines in his chair.
The gospels are filled with this line. Don’t skip over the holiness of this.
He sat at the table of sinners and tax collectors.
Simon, the leper- whom no one would dare come near.
His disciples and best friends.
Looking them in the eye and eating meals- He knew this is what would capture the hearts of His people.
The Table.
Sacred, yet ever so personable.
The small glance we get into the life of Jesus.
He doesn’t have time to waste, so he spends most of his time eating with His friends.
Jesus of Nazareth.
The King of the World.
Laughing. Teaching. Drinking. Eating.
“The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.”
He only does what He sees the Father doing.
He laughs and sings.
He reclines in His chair.
