Closing the Costa Rica chapter, I want to take a moment to reflect on the things the Lord taught me this past month. So, without further ado, here are 3 lessons learned and 5 people thanked;

God is Good & Sovereign– These two things are not mutually exclusive. They go hand in hand. Things can be so hard and so difficult. It can be nearly impossible to understand why on earth you are going through something. Jesus taught me to take a step back and remember that we are so lucky to have a good God who promises to work for my good. He already knew that I was going to go through a rough time and yet saw that there’s potential for fruit within it. I just need to keep my eyes on Him and when I fall to my knees, know that he is going to be right next to me to help me back up again.

Integrity over Ease– Integrity is a difficult thing to value and implement, but it is so worth it. I was recently told, “do you know that you are worth having the hard conversations with?” Discomfort produces fruit, and hard conversations are so stupid uncomfy, but it’s worth it. It’s hard to humble yourself and admit that you’ve messed up, but there is so much room for God to move within it. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says,

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Don’t you Dare Judge a Book by its Cover– Three of the girls I learned so much from this month work at a casino in Jacó that’s known as “the hub of prostitution.” When I first met a working woman there I got so nervous and not going to lie, I was a little judgmental. These three women let me into their hearts and loved me so well. Friends can be found anywhere.

I also want to take the time to acknowledge and thank the people who intentionally took the time to invest in me and make a profound impact on my heart;

Hannah– Getting to spend almost every day with you this past month was a huge honor. You have showed me what quiet feminine fierceness coupled with childlike joy looks like. You showed me that putting action behind passion can make an immeasurable difference. One of the best compliments I’ve ever received was that my teammates can see some of your qualities in myself. I look to you as a Godly woman who embody so may qualities that I want to adopt!

Stephanie– you showed me how it’s possible to take the time to make someone feel so valued and special, even when it’s your job to love 34 people, which you did so incredibly well. You instilled in me a love for learning about the historical context surrounding the stories of the Bible as well as the power of relating to another person’s story.

Anne– you showed me how God can answer prayers immediately. You taught me to be fearless in making friends and to be bold in uncomfortable situations because I know who I am.

Maria– you taught me how God can call you away from what the world deems to be the best, and He’ll always have something better than you could imagine. You’ll never regret listening to what God has for You. It just takes an act of faith.

Richard– You started me on a journey to rediscover how God views me, and how I see Him. My relationship with Jesus has gotten so much deeper ever since you listened to what the Holy Spirit had to say to you and it has taken me on an incredible deep dive into a new way of understanding how Jesus loves His daughters.

Thank you. I don’t see myself forgetting this month for a long long time.

Hey you! Thank you SO much for reading this blog! Would you consider joining me on this mission around the world? There are two main ways I am asking for partnership in this:

1. PRAYER. I firmly believe that prayer is the most powerful way to make change happen. Will you pray for my team and I as we continue on this crazy journey in search of Jesus? That He will provide the funding? And that the Holy Spirit will begin working in those we will encounter while on the Race?

2. FUNDING. This one is 100% up to you. In order to go on the Race, I need to fundraise about $6,500 more by the end of November, which is a pretty lofty goal. So any help counts, whether it’s $5 or $500!

It’s biblical that you take care of yourself so if you don’t feel comfortable giving, that is totally fine! I would love for you to still follow along on this journey by some of the methods listed below!
