The week leading up to Thanksgiving has been a hard one. Homesickness has been way too real, and the thought of missing out on a crazy Heismann gathering was heartbreaking. I knew that I would be missing out on time with my family, honey baked ham, and whatever my cousins will be doing after the great feast. Knowing that not being able to hug the people that I am most thankful for on this day makes me miss them even more, even though, I am still so thankful for the things that the Lord has provided these last few months.
Something that tops the list of what I’m thankful for are my teammates. I wakeup, eat, do ministry, hang out, and go to sleep with the same six girls every day. These girls bring me such immense joy, laughter, and they challenge me to grow all the time. I know that God had a plan when he placed us six together. Team Tetelestai has become a family, and I am so grateful for that.
Gap J has been another blessing in my life. All of us at different ministries, all over Ecuador, but still all doing the thing together. This group of 55 young adults are some of the most God fearing, accepting, and loving people I have ever met, and I am so blessed to be apart of such an amazing squad.
Ecuador so far has been an amazing experience, I am mostly thankful for our ministry, COVI, the kids that we work with, shawarma, Sweet and Coffee, and as sketchy as it is, the public transportation that gets us from point A to point B daily. Inka Link has been such an amazing host at taking care of us, and providing a place for us to come home to every night, with a delicious meal, cozy beds, and hot showers. Ecuador is an amazing country, and I am honored to call it home for these short three months.
My heart overflows with gratitude for my family and friends back home in the states. It is such a privilege to miss such great people so much. I know that I have a huge support system back home, and know that I will be welcomed home in June with open arms.
Finally, I am thankful for the people that got me here. I wouldn’t be in Ecuador without the people who supported me financially, as well as the ones who constantly support me in prayer. I thank God everyday for this opportunity to build his kingdom, and grow closer to him daily.
I am forever grateful for the merciful God that I serve, and that a man loved me enough to die for me. I hope that one day everyone will know and feel the love that I am so honored to receive, even when I don’t deserve it. My God is AMAZING, AWESOME, and WONDERFUL, and I am blessed with all that he has provided.
I hope that everyone has an amazing thanksgiving and remembers the one who gave everything to save us. Enjoy eating food until you can’t function, and God bless.
