Just to clear up any confusion, this is NOT the Amazing Race. That is a reality tv show hosted by Phil Keoghan that began in the early 2000s. I am going on the World Race !
Here are some frequently asked questions about the World Race & their answers !!
What IS the World Race? The World Race is an 11 month service trip to further the gospel across the world ! I will be partnering and serving alongside long term missionaries and organizations in each country that are working on sharing the Gospel and furthering the Kingdom of God !
WHERE are you going? I will be going to 11 different countries on the Pacific Rim: Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia !!
Are you going ALONE? There is a group of about 50 adults/young adults ages 21-35 that will be traveling the same route as me. We will be split up into teams of about 6-7 people that will do life and ministry together over the course of the 11 months.
WHEN are you going? I will be in Gainesville, Georgia (World Race Headquarters) from October 2-15. This is Training Camp where I will be prepared spiritually, physically, and culturally for the next year. We will be whipped into shape to carry around our 50 pound backpack, understanding appropriate eating manners in various countries, learning and understanding the various religions we will come into contact with etc. So much knowledge !
WHAT are you bringing? All of my belongings will be put into a backpack ! Wowzers I know. This will include my sleeping arrangement (sleeping bag and tent) as well as clothing, shoes, toiletries, books, camera – everything ! Hello minimalism !
WHAT are you doing in each country? Each country has various long term missionaries and organizations we will be serving alongside and partnering with. We will know more details when we get closer to launch. The World Race gives us an overview of all of the ministries and organizations they partner with; therefore, we will be coming alongside one of the following missionaries/organizations in each country!
