A good friend told me to read 1 John so, I did, and it blew my mind. So I’m sitting in bread co. eating my bacon turkey bravo, sipping on some green tea, listening to Kari Jobe, reading my bible, and I’m crying.
Here are a few things I learned..
Fellowship = Joy
When we proclaim our faith to others we are creating fellowship with the Father and his son Jesus Christ, which in turn makes our joy complete.
God is light and in Him is no darkness at all
We can not be in darkness while practicing the truth. Isn’t that SO comforting?!?!
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us
Jesus is our advocate, he simply wants us to walk in the same way in which he walked.
DO NOT LOVE THE WORLD
1 John 2:15-17
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life – it is not from the Father but if from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
At this point I’m sitting there thinking to myself, “Hannah you are a selfish BRAT. Calm the heck down, you are too caught up in yourself.”
Abide in Him so that we can have confidence when he comes
Abiding in Him = Eternal life
Hoping in Him purifies yourself because He is pure
LET NO ONE DECEIVE YOU
If someone is not loving, they are abiding in death.
Hating someone is counted just as bad as murdering someone.
The only way to properly abide in Jesus is to only be filled with love.
Let us not love in word or talk, but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:23
“And this is His commandment that we believe in the name of his son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.”
LOVE = GOD
If we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
Whoever abides in love, abides in God, and God abides in him.
Perfect love castes out fear so, if you’re feeling anything other than perfect it is not love.
To know perfect love is to know God. HOW COOL?!?!
Fear has to do with punishment so, whoever is fearful in “love” is not experiencing perfect love
We love because he first loved us.
Comfort
Our faith is the victory that has overcome the world.
If we ask God anything according to his will he will hear us and lead us in the right direction.
If we are born of God then evil cannot touch us.

At this point my mind and heart are racing. I’m overwhelmed by the love Jesus has for us and how wonderful our lives could be if we would fully abide in Him each and every day. 1 John has brought me so much comfort the last couple of days while simultaneously wrecking me.
In Christ,
Hannah
