Here is Julia’s blog from about a month and a half ago that I haven’t posted until now! Enjoy my sweet friend and her love and kindness that absolutely radiates, so much so I can feel it halfway across the world.
Hello guys!
So my name is Julia, and Hannah, my best friend, has asked me to write a blog. As you all know she is out on the World Race being amazing, as always, and living it up. But the week before she left I gave her a little gift to have during her 9 month journey to be able to remind her of home. This little gift was an Altoids mint tin, but inside were letters I had gotten our friends to put together, and also bible verses and quotes, and little happy inside jokes all smushed into this little box.
If you don’t know us, well let me tell you we cried for just a bit about that one. But it was just a small little gift to remind her of home while she was far away.
Me and Hannah have only really known each other for about 2 years maybe, but I feel like we have been friends forever. The idea of not being able to see her for 9 months didn’t seem real for a long time. Really only felt real until she was dropping off her artwork and a letter at my house and then heading off that it felt really real. Long distance friendship is on a whole nother level of friendship. But I believe we have managed to keep up pretty well. Although Hannah doesn’t get a lot of time with WIFI connection, we make the most of it. During the week she usually won’t have connection but I will sometimes text updates or really anything and then when she sees it she responds. There is also this cool app called Marco Polo, and it’s like touch and go facetime. She can send a video and then when I see it I can send one back. Using this stuff really helps with staying connected and updated with each other. With this I am able to hear about all the wonderful things they are doing on the race and see pictures and hear stories, which is so rewarding as a friend.
We also wrote each other letters before she left. And in hers to me she put that I would be able to read it whenever I missed her or needed her voice and she would be able to read mine. It has been well read through a couple times now.
While it has only been 3 months and there are 6 more to go, I feel like time has gone fast. I am excited for the rest of her journey and ours to pick back up when she gets back! Looking forward to hearing about all the new upcoming things, especially being a TEAM LEADER! What a rockstar!
Even though there are hard times when it frustrating and we aren’t able to always talk to each other and communicate our friendship has stayed strong and we stay supportive and true to each other through it all.
Feel Big Sister ,
Julia Langlois
