Hello hello hello!!!

Today we are time-traveling back to the month of December in the city of Cusco, Peru. I made this video to give you a glimpse into our ministry- which consisted of hosting many church events for the holidays, hanging out with kids, cleaning an orphanage, and renovating a home for a mother and her 4 children.

Every week we hosted a new event at the church to spread lots of holiday cheer and emphasize the meaning of Christmas. We arranged a Té de Damas (women’s tea) complete with a meal, treats, a sermon, worship, a drama, and activities for the women to help them pursue their relationship with the Lord. We also threw a few Christmas parties for children of all ages. We went all out with popcorn, cheeseburgers, hot cocoa, balloons, games, clowns, facepaint, a dance-off, and of course, presents. Most of the children that attended these parties came from orphanages so we LOVED the opportunity to spoil them for Christmas 🙂

One of the hardest, yet most rewarding, ministries we did this month was fixing up the home of a mother and her 4 children. The CPS of Peru was sent to investigate this home in response to a report, and found that the living conditions were less than habitable. Because of this, they threatened to take the children away from the mother unless the home was fixed to their standards of “liveable”. So, our mission was to guarantee that this family would not be split. We went straight to work peeling off mold and old paint from the walls, cleaning out bugs and spider webs, scraping out old drywall, and repainting the walls and ceilings. Some of the men from the church also fixed up their bathroom and kitchen. It was a tough job some days, but the outcome was so worth it.

I’m so sorry this is so late; Wi-Fi is hard to come by on the Race. And even with this Wi-Fi, it took 7 hours to upload the video. 7 hours! So on that note, please enjoy 🙂

All my love,
