Team Beloved Daughters arrived in Cambodia a week ago. We flew in to Siem Reap last Friday and got to spend one last night with our F squad family at the Adventures in Missions guesthouse. Saying goodbye was hard, but I was so excited to start Month 3 out strong with my teammates!
Saturday morning Team Beloved Daughters and Team Haven rented out a 15 passenger van and we started the trek down to Phnom Penh, which is the capital
of Cambodia. Team Beloved Daughters is partnering with a local church here in the city called 5P church, which stands for Phnom Penh Promise People Presbyterian Church.
Throughout the week we teach English to college students in the morning, hand out flyers to students in the city letting them know about the free English classes, lead the youth bible study, minister to people in the slums, and visit church members in the community.
Personally, I am thriving here in Asia and could see myself living here (shhh don’t tell my mom or Dad). I love the different pace of life here and their culture. The Cambodian people are beautiful and always have a smile on their face! I am so thankful to be here and to again be pushed out of my comfort zone with teaching English as a second language.
When I found out we were teaching English and that there was a kindergarten class, I immediately got sooo excited! As you know I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education and I absolutely adore the little ones, so once arriving here I was so eager to start teaching the young kiddos!!
Heather and I are teaching a large class of 5-6 year olds. It is easily the highlight of our day! Every evening they come in and yell GOOD EVENING TEACHER. It is SO cute!! One night we came in and they wrote on the whiteboard “We Love You Teacher!” It’s safe to say that my heart was exploding. It’s been a joy teaching the children here in Cambodia and I can’t wait to see what else God has in store for us this month!
Xoxo,
Hannah
