This past week has been incredible! I landed in Nicaragua with a couple days of ministry done, before my mom arrived for parent vision trip. A lot of ministry here is relationship based, which I absolutely love! Never before have I been on a prayer walk, I haven’t even heard of the term before going on the race. Being here at our ministry site Reap Granada I have become very familiar with it. We have a translator with us, as we head out onto the streets of the outer villages in Granada. We don’t necessarily have to pray, we visit homes and get to talk with people. A lot of building relationships and building community. It is so spirit lead, I feel God guiding me to whoever and handing me the divine time to share of His goodness either directly with words or through our compassion and kindness in giving of time and attention to others lives. Being lead to the people He wants our hearts to invest in. This experience and ministry really has changed my outlook on the need of the world. I have witnessed a lot of people so desperate or open for Jesus. For a God who saves and who heals. Sometimes I think we underestimate how many people will actually want to talk about faiths and their hurt. I have seen a lot of people who had taken the wrong path, yet are calling out for God, for a purpose, for newness, for something greater. These people also have such a joy with so little and have such a childlike faith that inspires me in my own faith. I see how I may bless and be a vessel of God but in a completely different way. Not out of my own strength but out of the strength of the Holy Spirit through regular conversation and prayer. Before going on the race I prayer made me anxious because I thought it had to be so put together and perfected for the Lord but turns out prayer can be powerful however long or short it is, whether you use big words or not. It all goes back to the heart behind the words. Evangelism can simply be having a conversation with a friend you meet on the streets or a lady who invited you into her home. Through the little acts of interest and kindness we can show to others then can potentially spark friendship. Giving of your time to the needs of others in a purposeful manner. Cultivating relationships not just going through the motions of giving. Being out on the streets and welcomed into families homes I feel so close to Jesus and refreshed by His spirit that is so evident in these places. Not to say there isn’t brokenness in these places but the way they are open to salvation is beautiful to me. I see Him in their faces and working in their lives. I love this ministry, most of all I love to be intentional with the people of this beautiful community that’s growing. Just the other day I was downtown shopping through the tables of the vendors in central park and saw two kids. Instead of continuing on, I sat down and talked to them in Spanish, they proceeded to talk and wanted my help with their homework. Their dad and his wife who was selling stuff came over and started talking to me, I noticed his hand was broken, after a while of talking I got to pray healing over it. Today, as I walked by their vendor stand, the little son came to give me a hug and I got to talk with the dad again. Just the little moments can make all the more difference in the lives of others. They can lead to connections and Jesus moving. Thanks for reading a little part of my day that makes me smile and really impacts me in ways emotionally and spiritually!
