Firstly, thank you thank you thank you. To all who have given financially, shown interest and encouraged me – this is a deeply humbling and affirming journey. Every part of me shrinks at the thought of vocalising this financial need so publicly, but this is all part of the process. I am confident God equips where he calls. So here goes!
The other day, an old friend kindly gave me a reality check – that $26,500 (USD18800) is one heck of a lot of money. That kind of ca$h could well be on its way towards a house deposit… He’s right. By any standards this World Race is a bit crazy. As I am more and more convinced that missions work is all about partnership – I thought it best to do the math and be as transparent as possible with this massive chunk of $$$.
Short term missions exist only to partner with God’s work in other nations, that as we go to encourage and mobilise movements of God’s kingdom, the impact is only helpful in light of the Holy Spirit’s work. He’s the one that calls, and sustains long after teams move on. Churches also partner with missionaries to equip, empower and send them all over the show. Much like is seen amongst the early church in Acts. These two facets of partnership are part of what connects the global church.
In light of this partnership, I invite you to join me in fundraising. I will have worked 19 months full time before I leave, and (after paying off my student loan and other debts) will contribute $8,500 myself. Below is a cheeky wee breakdown of the figures as they stand. **Apologies if it’s hard to follow, I am by no means an accountant and there’s a tonne of numbers and exchange rates rolling around my head.

The first deadline of USD5000 by September has already been met (YAY) and we’re well on the way of my goal to be fully funded before launching in January. **I leave NZ late November for 6 weeks in the USA prior to launch on the actual World Race**
